About AJS Self Defence and Grand Master Andrew Sands

Learn Taekwondo or Hapkido or Self Defence from one of the most experienced, trusted, well respected and family-friendly martial arts schools in the Blacktown area – AJS Self Defence. Grand Master Andrew Sands has been teaching local children, teenagers and adults martial arts since 1988. His 38+ years of success is a testament to his dedication to, and care for, his students and the art.

Our team of instructors

All of our instructors hold Working With Children Check (WWCC) numbers.

In nearly all classes the allocated instructor is assisted by additional black belts, ensuring that each student receives one-on-one tuition and feedback during the class.

Hapkido instructor and women’s self defence instructor. Amanda is our women’s programs lead instructor. She runs our women’s Saturday Hapkido class and fills in when required during the week. Amanda researched, designed and co-wrote our women’s self defence program.

Josh teaches our Saturday general Hapkido class and fills in when other instructors are unable to make their regular class.

Hapkido instructor and women’s self defence instructor. Kate is one of our regular women’s Saturday Hapkido class instructors and fills in during the week when required. Kate co-wrote our women’s self defence program.
