New Centre Information Pack
Firstly welcome to AJS Self Defence. We are planning on launching a new club house as a full time Centre on Sunnyholt Road Blacktown The club will incorporate the current Kings Langley class established in 2007 (Vardys Road Public School) and the Blacktown class established in 1988. The hall will be set up with a matted floor for safety, along with better communications, internet availability, drinks, regular personal scoring/ skills tests and of course the opportunity of upgrading your skills to learn Hapkido. As a member of; Korea Hapkido Federation, Australian Hapkido Federation Inc', Korea Hapkido Moohakkwan, Korea Taekwondo Kukkiwon, Taekwondo Australia Inc', Korea Taekwondo Jidokwan and endorsed by the Martial Arts Industry Association (MAIA), you have many avenues available for your personal progression. Please click on any of the buttons above for further information.
SAFETY IS MY NUMBER 1 PRIORITY AND THUS TRAINING INJURIES ARE QUITE RARE.

Here is the initial timetable for the centre. With 20 square meters of signage being installed, subscription to Yellow Pages advertising, the domain name selfdefence.com.au, support from Taekwondo Australia website and the Martial Arts Industry Association website (first classes listed in NSW of any martial art) and with other martial arts clubs both north and south of the centre, we expect that the membership will grow dramatically. Thus we will add additional classes as required. As students decide on representing our clubs in tournaments, we have the option of training on weekends. As a full time centre, the rent is paid for 24 hour/ 7 days per week so the opportunities are endless.
Monday Taekwondo- 6.45 - 8.00pm Hapkido 8 - 9.15pm
Wednesday Taekwondo- 6.45 - 8.00pm Hapkido 8 - 9.15pm
Thursday Taekwondo- 6.45 - 8.00pm Hapkido 8 - 9.15pm
Friday Taekwondo- 7.30 - 9pm
For students that are interested in competing at tournaments, we have access to attend the following events;

NSW Taekwondo Association events (two scheduled for this year). Events are non contact sparring, full contact sparring, patterns, team patterns, tile breaking or multiple board breaking, self defence demonstrations.

Australian Hapkido Federation Inc' National Tournament (scheduled for Sydney this year). Events are prearranged free sparring demonstrations, weapons demonstration and self defence demonstration (Hapkido techniques are too dangerous for full contact events).

Taekwondo Australia Inc' events ( two state and two national championships this year). Include contact sparring, tile breaking, board breaking, patterns (accuracy) or pattern to music, team patterns. This can also lead to international and Olympic competition.
ISKA (International Sports Karate Association) who have two to three events per year including their world championships. This includes many events from a variety of martial arts. Go to www.iska.com.au for more details
As a basic, the dan grading process continues. For Taekwondo we have access to Jidokwan, Taekwondo Australia and of course Kukkiwon certification. In terms of Hapkido we have access to Korea Moohakkwan and the Korea Hapkido Federation certifications. At 6th dan Master in both arts, I have extensive experience in the senior levels of both martial arts. By navigating through this website back to the HOME PAGE, your will find an icon called HALL OF FAME. Here you will find the names of all 616 people that I have taught with their belt rankings. I am also Chief Instructor for Hassall Grove TKD, Blacktown South HKD and Glenwood HKD, Ermington TKD and Ermington HKD.
We also have 9 TKD black belts that will training at the centre. This opens up a new level of training for current or soon to be graded black belts in terms of self improvement and experience training with other black belts. The Hapkido class will be a completely new class, but there will be existing HKD black belts visiting the centre (mostly taught by myself).
As the new centre is rented 24 /7 full time, we have access to the centre at any time. We must also consider that no one person can effectively run/ teach at the centre consistently as illness, injury and attendance at Australian/ international tournaments and seminars must be taken into consideration. Therefore assistant instructors will be required. The signage on the front of the building to Sunnyholt Road will no doubt bring more students, meaning more classes will be required.
This is where current or soon to grade black belts have the advantage of starting their own class through instructor training at the centre if you choose to do so. This could lead to your own class outside the centre or a regular class in the centre.
So what qualifications are available?
Grand Master Sung Soo Lee offers instructor certificates to selected trained instructors. Certification after qualifying are;
Korea Taekwondo Jidokwan
Korea Taekwondo Kukkiwon
Korea Hapkido Moohakkwan
Korea Hapkido Federation
Taekwondo Australia Inc' also have instructor courses, coaching courses and graded levels on referee courses.
The Martial Arts Industry Association also have instructors courses. Their course in mandatory should you want to teach a class by yourself. This is the best of all instructor courses available in Australia. A re-fresher course is required every 4 years.
